Look at these comparison pictures:…

Let us tell you our real names, it'll be much easier. The girl who cosplays Lelouch is Anna, the girl who cosplays Millenium Earl and Melisandre is Kate. Kate took the Lelouch photos of Anna and Anna made photos of Kate's cosplays below. No one of us is calling herself a photographer. We're just cosplayers who really love taking photos. We TOTALLY think that EVERY cosplayer can take some decent photos. You must not be a photographer for this task!

When we first started with cosplay (it was 2008), there was no photographer with a single-lens reflex camera around us. We knew a very few cosplayers and we only had a really small camera (everyone has this kind of a camera at home).
We've thought - hey, we're two people, let's just take photos of each other! We're not photographers, but we still want to try it out!

After some time both of us noticed that most of the cosplayer's photos are taken with SLR's. We knew we won't become photographers, but the "we've got to try making the best out of it!" fire burned in my chest :D I took all the courage and bought Nikon D40. That was an insane sum of money back then.

We're in 2012 now.
Please look at the comparison picture again:…
(the ones of 2008 are taken with Panasonic DMC-FX9, the ones of 2012 are taken with Nikon D7000+35mm)
Both of us are still taking photos of each other and we still have tons of fun. We've saved money for a really long time and we own Nikon D7000 + 85 mm + 35 mm. We've learned so much stuff in these 4 years. We're still don't consider ourselves being photographers, but we know that now we're capable of taking pictures we'll really like afterwards despite being only "cosplayers who take photos of each other". What I really want to say is that EVERY COSPLAYER CAN DO IT! Maybe there's no photographer around you, maybe it's only you and your friend, maybe you think about "I'll never become a photographer, so why should I even try?".

Grab the camera. Have fun!

P.S. We're posting cosplay progress pictures in our tumblr: , so if anyone is interested... :D It's much easier to post progress there than on dA.

I take pictures on my own. It's a learning process. I bought a tripod last year, it has helped immensely. I started cosplaying officially in 2009 since in 2008 i didn't document my cosplay(I had no camera)
in 2009 I bought a simple point and shoot camera my pictures weren't the best but I made with what I had. in 2010 I bought a Nikon-D40. I am still learning and experimenting with this camera.

I am my own photographer for my cosplay, it may be hard but I manage ^^;

Totally agree, I enjoy taking photos for my fellow cosplayer friends, even though I don't consider myself as a photographer.

LMAO that is exactly what my sister and I do. We take pictures of each other and we started out on a bad small camera until I bought a D40 and now I'm saving up for another camera. It's really fun to be able to grow and learn new things about taking pictures. We don't claim to be anywhere an expert with camera, taking pictures and so on so forth but you really can get better just by practice and enjoying what you do. xD

For being in the scene doing photography as long as I have, I only have one thing to say: "THANK YOU"... You're both quite the inspiration, even to us who focus exclusively on photography. :)

When you say "I", which one of you is speaking? Is it always the same person?
